Time will leave you behind,
It won’t wait for you to catch up.
It seems to laugh at you as you miss your moment
And your appointment with your Lord is left behind,
You may as well have thrown your final draft, one beautifully written
Essay out the window after you made the final touches;
Or your attention to detail painting of a landscape.
Or your hours worth of manual labour: money.
It’s all valued to nothingness.
The most important meetings and we miss them
Like they’ll come again.
This is once in a lifetime,
It’s the only thing that counts.
So drop all your wordly responsibilities, fulfill your duty.
You’ve believed, now fulfil the actions of a believer,
A life without prayer is a life without living,
For one fails to appreciate the One who is giving.

“Whoever does not read the stories of the Salaf and the path that they tread, he can never tread that path. It is befitting for a person to know and understand that the nature of an individual (character) is a thief. If a person leaves his nature with the people of his time, his nature will steal from theirs and he will become similar to them. But if he reads into the lives of the Salaf his nature will join theirs and he will learn from their character…”
